About HomeMortgageOnline

An independent place to compare U.S. mortgage options

We turn the confusing first page of mortgage search results into something genuinely useful: plain-English guides, working calculators, and a weekly rate snapshot - with no sales pressure.

Our mission

Make the mortgage basics clear before you ever speak to a lender. We want the research step to feel calm and informed, not rushed or sales-driven, so you can compare options on your own terms.

What this site does

We publish guides on buying, refinancing, and loan types; free calculators for payment, affordability, PMI, and closing costs; and a weekly rate snapshot with an educational outlook. Everything is free and needs no account.

How the rate outlook works

Each week we review public benchmarks - Bankrate, Freddie Mac, Mortgage News Daily - plus inflation, jobs, Treasury yields, and Fed guidance. We score the pressure, compare it with the prior outlook, and publish an honest scenario range. It is education, not a forecast guarantee.

Independent and transparent

We are not a lender, broker, or mortgage loan originator. We do not take applications, issue commitments, lock rates, or give financial or legal advice. Our content is editorially independent and we do not rank lenders or products in exchange for placement.

Kept current

Maintenance and update cadence

The rate snapshot and outlook are refreshed weekly, and each page carries a visible "Rates pulled" date so you always know how fresh the numbers are. Guides are reviewed as programs and limits change. Spot something out of date? Tell us and we will fix it.
